News and Information About the 2013 Reunion
30 years WellPark Reunion Continue...
Hi all,
After our get together (Vinh/Dieu, Hieu/Hanh, Chi, Tu/Trang and anh Thanh, anh cua Tu) at Tu's home on Sat 2/16, we all decided to go forward with our 30 year reunion. We picked a Sat night in late August, 2008 for our reunion and possible 2 locations. First choice was The Villa and second choice was Grand Garden in Little Saigon.
I went and visited the sites this afternoon to check out the locations, pricing and options. At both places there are no Sat nights available due to the wedding season. Also no Sun night 8/31 either (due to Labor Day Weekend), is already booked for a wedding.
The Villa is out due to pricing, no choice of other catering company we have to go w/Furiwa (some people don't really care for their food), on top of that you can't bring your own liquor, you have to buy from them. Grand Garden restaurant is the best choice, $200 cheaper per table, food is pretty good, decoration with fresh flowers included, you can bring your own liquor with no cork fees. Therefore, I tentatively reserved Sun 8/31/2008 afternoon for 100 to 150 people between 11 am to 5 pm. I have to go back next weekend to put down $500 deposit so they can guarantee our spot.
We need to start spreading the word so we know for sure who is coming to our 30 year reunion. So everyone please talk or email your family and let me know as soon as possible.
I've set up a web site called Wellpark Reunion 2008 so we can go to the forum and chat. I can upload all the pictures in there so if you have old and recent pictures of you and your family please send to me. I will send out the invitation tomorrow to you all, the site is hosted by Ning.
Due to the long program we need and have two talented volunteers for MC, b/s Hung and anh Thanh (anh Tu). They will coordinate with each other so the program goes smoothly.
For Music we had two people who are very well connected with popular and famous singers in Southern California. We can get them to sing at our function basically for free. My aunt co Nghia (vo cua ca si Nhat Thuy) and anh Thanh (anh cua Tu). Co Nghia will contact anh Thanh soon.
Anh Thanh (anh Tu) volunteered to handle the printing of our souvenir booklets with pictures of our voyage from Vietnam to America 30 years ago (give away at the party). He also volunteered to be in charge of the slide show. But I think it may be too much for one person to do since we are all working full time. Thank you anh Thanh so much for volunteering to help us out since you are not even part of Wellpark. So if someone can volunteer or has ideas on how to gather all the info, materials , pictures and writing the story of our jouney beside the one we already had on the Wellpark web site please contact me.
