We are very sorry to hear about the sad new of your dad. In your time of sadness, our thoughts of heartfelt sympathy are with you! We are eternally being grateful for all the things he did for us!
I am sorry for your loss. May your sorrow be softened by the presence of caring friends and the healing power of memory.
My family and I are forever indebted to your dad, the Wellpark's cadets and crew members for rescuing us 29 years ago.
Hi Fiona
I'm Andy Griffin's daughter, sorry to hear of your sad loss. I lost Dad in August 2006 and its still tough but I get a lot of comfort from hearng about my Dad that knew him particularly in relation to the Wellpark rescue. I hope you will find it comforting in the same way.
Hi Carmel
Thank you for your message and sorry I have taken a while to reply but it was a bit close to Dad's funeral when I last signed in. I am sorry to hear about your father but I do think that it is fantastic that the memory of Dad and the crew will live on and I know he really enjoyed working with Jo on the film. It is a bit weird as Jo met him a week after my mother's funeral to discuss the Wellpark story and now there is going to be a reunion. He would have loved to know about it as he wondered what happened to everyone. The memorial quaich has been passed on and I have found lots of paperwork but I am not sure if Dad kept it or got it from Jo
I know what you mean about coincidences, We stayed with Dad all night until he died in the early hours, me, mum and her best friend left the hospital about 2am and went to our seperate houses then mam rang later that morning and said Jo had been on the phone to talk to Dad. As you can imagine at that stage we were just numb still so it hadn't really sunk in, I guess your Dad was a bit like that too. Sorry to hear you have lost both parents in such a short space of time I hope you are doing okay !! Mam says Dad liked your Dad and she had heard him speak about him and he comes across as a really nice and warm man on the film.
I can imagine it is tough going through things, I know with Dad's my mam has done most of it but as I go through things something catches my eye and I can't help but cry but equally now there are things that make me smile or laugh out loud. I hope its not all sad and the memories help
Just wanted to say I have just returned from the reunion it was amazing but wanted to say I was thinking of you and your Dad, I found it quite emotional but in a good way, not grief just pride.
I'm pleased you got the message as I wasn't sure whether you were still checking the site. I really do think they were there in spirit...all of them...there were times when the sun would shine so bright through the window it made me think of them and it was usually when they were saying quite emotional things, there was a really spirit of happiness and hope in the room it was truly uplifting.
I hope it gave you some peace placing your Dad at rest, I know what you mean my Grandad died a year before my Dad and his ashes are still not scattered or buried and there is no closure until that happens. The bench is great its there if I need some time but also Dad was really set that I didn't make it into some kind of shrine or place to visit because I had to just if I wanted to.
When we get a DVD through of either Jo's or Chi's that show the reunion I will try and get you a copy as I really think you will get a lot of happiness from seeing it, but if you are anything like me there will be tears too. I have to say I wasn't sad but just wished Dad could have experienced it ....although as I said I think he was there in spirit.
Take care xx
I am very sorry to hear about your dad recently passed away. I hope you will find comfort in knowing your dad & the Wellpark's crews had saved many lives. He had done good deed in his lifetime, and now his journey has taken him to a better place.
Please accept my sincere condolences, and hope we will get a chance to see you in England someday.
I hope it brings some comfort I know you miss your mum and dad but I hope it helps in the same way as it does to me that your Dad was invovled in something incredible .... stay in touch xxx
