Hi,
Help - I need some help!
I need a music track to play for when you are all on the Wellpark for the BBC film. As they own lots of music rights I think I can chose almost anything, so I thought I should ask you if there's any tracks that would be suitable or bring back memories....
I've seen the 'Seasons in the Sun' one but not sure that's right for this...as it doesn't have that mixture of hope & seriousness. It will play under Mike's photos.
I remember Mike suggesting ELO...any particular tracks would be good.
Also - please not the obvious......Rod Stewart's 'Sailing' !!!
Email me privately if you prefer: joannewall_98@yahoo.com
OH def not we are sailing, we had that at Dad's funeral... I cry enough without that.... saying that we also had spirit in the sky for the last song wish mam sang at the top of her voice ! so maybe I will cry whatever is picked.... I'm really looking forward to seeing it.
Try Devenire by Ludovico Einaudi......(you can hear it on my page, now I've moved Sailing down the playlist) In many ways the music play like flowing water, and is pretty emotional.
If that's too serious The ELO track is Mr Blue Sky.....it was someone elses suggestion, and a good one.
Ludovico Einaudi; his music is classical, timeless, but actually he only became famous in about 1998. How about Deacon Blue, Ship called Dignity? Anyhow take your pick from the top 100 of 1978..

Mike.....what can I say?! There must be one in here......muchas gracias.
Fleetmac Mac released 'Rumours' that year. There is some nice stuff on there I thought. I'll get back to this Wednesday.
Do you think the song we played at the end of the reunion party "Hello Vietnam" translated from "Bonjour Vietnam" is more appropriate? You can listen to it again on YouTube. In the meantime I will look for some more songs. Chi
Here's the song that was one of the Top 100 in 1978. If you don't pick something Vietnamese then this might be the one. Just listen to the words and how precisely they fit the Wellpark situation. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo_4QopvYFs"> Alternatively another favourite of mine is On the Border by Al Stewart from 1977 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Cv5qLEYoSHM">
Lyrics for Come sail away:
Im sailing away, set an open course for the virgin sea
Ive got to be free, free to face the life thats ahead of me
On board, Im the captain, so climb aboard
Well search for tomorrow on every shore
And Ill try, oh lord, Ill try to carry on
I look to the sea, reflections in the waves spark my memory
Some happy, some sad
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had
We live happily forever, so the story goes
But somehow we missed out on that pot of gold
But well try best that we can to carry on
A gathering of angels appeared above my head
They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said
They said come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
I thought that they were angels, but to my surprise
They climbed aboard their starship and headed for the skies
Singing come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way
Bobby Darin - Simple Song of Freedom
Bobby Darin - Beyond the sea
The Beattle - Free as a Bird
John Lenon - Imagine
Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World
See if the above songs fit the theme of the beautiful reunion between the people left their country for freedom and the wonderful people that saved them for the BBC film. I like What A Wonderful World and also Simple Song Of Freedom.
